Granite Creek

Granite Creek Tour: If your looking for a SUP challenge then this 4-5 hour trip level 3 trip may be great for you! This river runs down from the top of Turnagain Pass and merges with the Sixmile river in the Chugach National Forest, it is surrounded by snow capped peaks all summer and has beautiful views around every corner. The Granite Creek tour starts at Bertha Creek Campground and winds downriver for 12 miles of splashy wave trains, tight corners, rocks to avoid and fairly shallow water in places. Previous river SUP experience is required on this class 2 tour as it requires quick turning abilities and can be very shallow depending on conditions and takes careful navigation to avoid them. Please call for current conditions as it is sometimes too shallow to safely run from the Bertha Creek Campground , there are other places to put in along the river including Granite Creek Campground where you can plan on camping and pull out right at the campsite! When the water level is right this trip is one of our favorites!

Directions to put in/take out: Bertha Creek put-in is about an hour drive South from Anchorage on the Seward Highway at Mile 65 (there is camping both here and at Mile 63 at Bertha Creek Campground.) The take out is at Mile 59 where the SIxmile River whitewater trips start.

Tour Times: 4-5 hours but can be modified depending on water flow and client ability.

Cost:$200
