Who We Are

Swift Adventures was started in 2020 by Scott Swift, a 20+ year local of Girdwood, Alaska and Maine native. “Swifty" is a lifetime outdoor adventurer and has spent his life telemark skiing, snowboarding, surfing, kiting, mountain-boarding and mountain biking but mostly stand-up paddling.

He has hiked and skied all of the Cascade Mountains, navigated a trip from one side of the Sierras to the other, mapped remote routes for long distance mountain bike rides through multiple states with large groups and has worked on avalanche mitigation crews for long-distance ski races through the Colorado mountains but his love for paddleboarding and sharing the stoke with everyone he possibly can has kept him motivated for many years.

Swift was an accomplished finish carpenter of many years but then switched his focus to caring for his two children and working on the family’s off- grid home at the end of long dirt road bordered by the Chugach National Forest in Girdwood, Alaska.  Getting the family out on an adventure just about every weekend also became a part of his job description.  While raising his children he has gained over 18 years of stand-up paddleboard experience and has become proficient in all aspects of the sport from flat-water, paddle-surfing, whitewater SUP and ocean navigation.  His entire family has coast-to-coast paddling experience including the Olympic Peninsula, rivers in Oregon, Washington, Maine, Florida, Minnesota, Arizona, California, Colorado, multiple Hawaiian locations, Puerto Rico, all over Mexico and in Costa Rica. He has organized and executed camping and paddling trips for large groups of friends and family for many years to remote locations around Alaska and the lower forty-eight states.  From the first day he ever saw a paddleboard Swift has been wanting to start a company to help spread the stoke of the sport and continue his lifelong passion for stand up paddling. The creation of Swift Adventures is a culmination of all his paddleboard knowledge with years of efforts devoted to logging thousands of miles of SUP adventures to create safety plans and tour ideas. He procured special permits through the Chugach National Forest Service, State of Alaska and the Kenai Wildlife Refuge, and has educated hundreds of friends and locals about the sport. The river SUP scene is a relatively new form of paddling, thanks to the technology of the gear, and Swift has devoted his summers to turning people onto the latest rage. Please see our section about our gear for specifics on how SUP river boards have changed the industry due to the technology!

Scotts children are now old enough to ski faster than him and paddle in wheelies while spinning around in circles down a river.
